Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Television director Vikto, also known as Siddhant Das, has been accused of driving under the influence and running over six people in Kolkata, resulting in the death of one person, Aminur Rahman. The incident occurred on Sunday while Rahman and his friend Syed Ahmed were reportedly standing on the roadside and talking. The FIR, filed based on the family’s complaint, states that the car’s brakes had failed. However, the family claims that the car was initially stopped and then deliberately accelerated to run over Rahman.
The family alleges that the act was intentional and not an accident. They claim that Das first hit Rahman and stopped the car, then moved it forward again at high speed to hit him a second time. “The brakes did not fail,” the family stated. Seven liquor bottles and a piece of cannabis were reportedly recovered from the vehicle, but the FIR does not mention the seizure of these items. The family has questioned the omission and expressed dissatisfaction with the details recorded in the FIR.
Police have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. No statement from the accused or his legal representative has been included in the available records. The investigation is ongoing, and the family continues to demand stricter legal action, alleging that the nature of the incident qualifies as intentional murder.
